Sofia studied Molecular Biology at the University of Padova, Italy, where she earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees. She worked in the group of Stainier Didier at the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research to establish a lung organoid model of alveologenesis. In the group of Nuno Guimarães-Camboa at the Institute of Cardiovascular Regeneration, Goethe University, she studied gene expression networks regulated by Dot1L during cardiomyocyte maturation. In January 2025, she joined the Münch lab as a PhD student to study the unfolded protein response in mitochondria.
