Jonas Schmidt
Jonas studied Pharmacy at Goethe-University in Frankfurt and is a licensed Pharmacist. During his studies, he performed a 3-month internship at Sanofi (Vitry-sur-Seine, Paris, France) focusing on process development of freeze-drying of biologicals and a 4-month internship in the Quigley lab (Scripps Research Institute in San Diego, CA, USA) investigating the role of neutrophil elastase in early on-steps of metastasis. He carried out the laboratory work for his Master’s thesis in Pharmacy in cooperation with Saarland University in the Davies lab (University of Copenhagen, Denmark) working on modulation of cellular damage induced by myeloperoxidase during chronic inflammation. For his PhD work, he joined the Münch lab in 2022 to work on the molecular mechanisms underlying mitochondrial stress and mitophagy.
